My name is Adm Golub. Yep, just one a. I was practically born in a newspaper darkroom at the feet of my father, a photojournalist. I've tried my hand at many jobs: web designer, fire fighter, camera assistant and even demolition for hire. Despite these diversions, I somehow found my way back to photography, journalism and digital imaging. Photography has always been a major part of my life; my father has been a photographer and photojournalist longer than I have been alive. Now I, his baby son, am following in his footsteps.
Gary Winogrand said, 'A photograph must be more interesting than the thing photographed.' I strive to make each of my photographs tell the story of the scene in front of me as well as create an image that imparts my personal vision to the scene. My father passed on to me what his mentors passed on to him: 'Take every photo like its going to be your Pulitzer even if it's Dog of the Week.'
Growing up in the mountains near Yosemite, California, has both given me solid roots and taught me to be down to earth. I also spent five years as a fire fighter, three of which as a Groveland Hotshot, and those experiences taught me how to stay calm under pressure while simultaneously being aggressive.
If you could live out your passion what would you be doing? My passion is photography and story-telling. I have a unique view of the world, which I think comes through in my work. I strive to enhance my vision every time I pick up a camera as well as take one step closer to revealing the truth of my subjects.
I love what I do, and I hope you love what I do as well.
