Golub Photo Blog bio picture

Welcome to my blog!

Hello!  My name is Al Golub and I am based near Yosemite National Park.  I have been a working photographer for 50 years.  As a dedicated photojournalist, I spent most of my career at newspapers.  I also consulted for Eastman Kodak for 10 years and did commercial photography as well.  Now, I teach photojournalism at the local junior college, assist and mentor up-and-coming photographers, and do as much freelance photography as I can.

The blog is a way to share my images and the stories behind each of them.  I hope you find that my photographs speak to you.  I also hope to hear from you so please feel free to leave comments!

You can see more of my portfolio here.

You can see my ever-growing archive here, where images are available for purchase and licensing.

Hey Ma, I’m blogging!

Here I am circa 1968

It’s been over a year since I created a blog, and I’ve yet to get it started.  So, all excuses aside, I’m going to just jump right in and get going.  I want this blog to be a place where I can share current and old work as well as serve as a resource for anyone interested in photography.  At the age of 68, I feel there is so much more for me to learn, and I would like to share all of the things I’ve learned over the years.  Having been a manager of photographers and other creative people, I have always enjoyed fostering a photographic community where everybody learns from and shares with one another.

Since I’m still learning the ropes on this whole blogging thing, I’d love to receive feedback on where to take this blog.  OK, back to scanning and imaging.

Check back tomorrow for my first real post with images!

May 26, 2011 - 5:55 PM Bill Moore - Al, Great start! I am looking forward to continuing to learn from you as I had in the Photojournalism classes at Modesto Junior College and seeing your work at local galleries. Getting the prospective from a professional photographer/photojournalist such as you are and have been for over four decades on the in and out of photography helps me to better understand the art of photography (and it is an art not just a skill). Thank you for your willingness to share you knowledge with others. We will all be better photographers because of that. Bill Moore... Modesto, CA

June 5, 2011 - 4:37 PM Lynda Rodig - OMG! I have only "met" your wife online in the last couple of days, and when she told me you were a professional photographer, I didn't realize you were a PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER!!! I am SO enjoying your photos, and would love to know when you have seminars - you are so generous sharing your photos - THANK YOU!!!! (I have to say, I'm not an overly emotional person, but looking at your photos brought me to tears - they are so moving! Especially the fire photos.... THANK YOU!!!!)
